Wear and Tear Symptoms

After years of use on the rocky shores of Main, our dinghy was looking a bit tired. The gel coat had been scarred in several locations, and the Hypalon Rubber abraded in others. Initially, we focused on repairing the rigid part of the hull as Hypalon replacement material is harder to come by.

Finding comparable Hypalon material in the US proved to be impossible. Luckily, we found ourselves in Germany during a boatshow (Boot Düsseldorf) so we were able to buy some material right from the stand. It speaks volumes that a manufacturer would actually carry replacement parts instead of just sending talking heads and models to show off their wares.
